Type Tray

Universe in Verse is Maria Popova’s poignant marriage of art and science. Four consecutive years of prominent creatives reading poems about evolution, experimentation, and the heavens - a trove of audio. The Type Tray is a physical listening station for that archive. Poetry is best heard when you are open and quiet, so I made the Type Tray to put you in just such a place.

Only some may discover the small door in the wunderkammer and be rewarded for their curiosity. When the door opens, air rustles your hair, lights focus your attention, and a poem, chosen from the archive at random, is read as you peer into the periscope playing images from the Hubble Telescope.
